Handpainted Canvases for Needlepoint , Embroidery,Scrumbled
Bags , Oil Paintings , Textile pieces and more.
My name is Nicola Thomson and I am an Australian visual artist , a proud mum and grandma. Formerly an art teacher way back but have always loved the textile side of art ( although I also oil paint given time).
I still work at a lot of other things too - including historical research, genealogy and florist.
Handpainting canvases is a way of creating unique pictures which will become tomorrows heirlooms, to be worked using needlepoint, stitching by colour, the colour guide for yarns needed is at the side of the painting...
It will be immediately clear to all that I'm not a techy person. Im an artist - so just enjoy the examples of my work please and ignore the blunders.
My handpainted canvases are originals created for each customer individually and so no two are the same, they are not printed or mass produced. Just me and a brush, paint, and a blank canvas.
I like COLOUR as is evident, not so much backgrounds. So most designs have a lot of the first and as little as possible of the second.
If you have a special design you would like me to paint onto canvas, or work as an embroidery then I am happy to do so, some people like specific pics, others like a general idea i.e. Pansies or Iris..the choice is yours.
Canvas count ( the number of holes or stitches to the inch ) varies - the largest and quickest are 10 count.
The smallest size I paint are 18 count canvases - and thats small - petit point.
